Weeks of training, dedication, sacrifice, ups and downs…all to come down to 13.1 miles in this one day. Race day.
We were both targeting a personal best in this race distance, and confident going into the Run One More Half Marathon that the day would be ours and we would be celebrating as we crossed the finish line. The field was small, by invitation only, and we were grateful to be considered for entry.
We ventured out to Holland, Texas – just east of Salado – in the middle of nowhere on a rural rolling course, to see if we had what we would need to reach our goal.
As we crossed paths with the marathoners, elite runners and Nick Bare gunning for his elusive sub-3 hour marathon, it was hard not to be inspired and we dug deep to hit the mark for ourselves.
