Ironman 70.3 triathlon in North America is back!
The 2021 season kicked off in Galveston, Texas at Ironman 70.3 Texas with fireworks galore. With an extended offseason and minimal racing, the pros had a lot of time to talk and train before going head-to-head once again.
Team Saunders made the trip from Austin, Texas to take in the sights and cover the action with video cameras in hand. On the men’s side, Lionel Sanders established himself as the one to beat, but Ben Kanute, Sam Long and Joe Skipper would be among several in the stacked field wanting their say in the matter.
Heather Jackson, Jeanni Metzler, Skye Moench were just a few top names in the women’s race looking to start the year off with big momentum. And a couple thousand age group athletes returned to racing as the brutal Galveston winds played a role in the day – especially on the bike course.
It was an incredible feeling to be back among the race energy and looking ahead to a great year to come.
